Wise Words

Narrated by Abu Dharr, the Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said:

"When you make some soup, increase its water and keep your neighbours in mind."

[Muslim reported the two Hadeeth]

Note: The ruling is to be treated as compulsory if the neighbour is poor. But if one's neighbour is rich, then this ruling is to be treated as a matter of preference. The Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, stated; "Whenever Gabriel came to me, he persistently kept emphasizing on the right's of one's neighbour - to such an extent that it led me into thinking perhaps a neighbour may be declared as the inheritor of one's legacy."
