15 Points of Advice for Those Making Umrah - Moosaa Richardson

15 Points of Reflection and Benefit for Those Making Umrah

from troid.ca

1. al-Ikhlaas (sincerity) - ‘Umrah like any other act of worship is required to be done sincerely for Allaah alone

2. There is no Ikhlaas except by shunning ar-Riyaa’ (showing off), don’t boast and take pictures (‘umrah selfies) in the middle of the acts of ‘Umrah! Don’t potentially change your intention or invent stoppages in an act of worship!

3. Stay away from tasweer (image making), especially leading up to and during the actions of ‘Umrah, make it a time to connect to your Lord not to connect to your social media ‘followers’, do not allow any chance of insincerity or showing off to enter one’s intention, ‘Umrah should not be deemed an opportunity to increase one’s ‘social capital’ (popularity) or a time for ‘humble-bragging’ (using apparently humble language to actually show off where you are or what your accomplishing)

4. Be devout in following the messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in establishing the rituals of ‘Umrah

5. Have knowledge of what the messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) did on ‘Umrah and in his life in general, there is no way to follow him except to have knowledge of what he taught us

6. Knowing the virtue of ‘Umrah, the expiation of sins

7. There is no harming and no reciprocation of harm (whilst in ihraam)

8. Obey the people in charge of the Muslims, respecting and honouring the guidelines and protocols during the journey

9. Travel for ‘Umrah in a group (3 or more) preferably

10. The woman does not travel alone (without a mahram) or as a group of women (without their mahrams)

11. There should be an ameer (leader) for a travelling group and you should obey the ameer (in the affairs related to the journey)

12. Make a lot of du’aa upon the journey

13. Make ‘Umrah as often as you can but perform multiple ‘Umrah (but upon different trips)

14. Hurry home (after ‘Umrah) and take care of the affairs of your family and your responsibilities

15. Reflecting upon Sooratul-‘Asr
