Sending Salat and Salaam
Narrated by Ibn Mas'ood, radhiAllaahu 'anhu:
The Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, said,
"The people who have the most right over me (for intercession or nearness to me) on the Day of Resurrection, are those who are most in invoking Salat upon me."
[At-Tirmidhi reported it, and Ibn Hibbaan graded it Sahih (authentic)]
Footnotes: We must know that invoking Salat upon the Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is a supplication to Allaah to praise the Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, in the highest assembly of the angels, and it is an act of worship. The best words of invocation after Laa ilaha illa-Allaah is the noble act of sending Salat and Salaam upon the Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.
