QadrAllaah, bearing patience, and being pleased...

Q: What is the sign that points to the absence of being pleased with the Qadaa and the Qadar (predestination)?

Shaikh Rabee' says: The person knows this from himself. The one that is displeased with the Qadaa of Allah knows this from himself, so it is upon him to make tauba to Allah and exhaust himself until he is pleased with the Qadaa of Allah, or at the least, until he is patient with the Qadaa of Allah because there are two levels:

The level of patience: And this is a matter that is obligatory on every Muslim. Something befalls him from the Qadaa of Allah and from the trials which Allah (The Blessed and the Most High) decrees, then patience is obligatory upon him. If he can exceed this level to a higher level from it and it is:

The level of pleasure: And it is a great level, how great it is! And the exception is that at the least it is upon him to be patient. And it is not permissible for him to be displeased with the Qadaa of Allah. So verily Allah tests the slaves, so whoever is pleased, for him is the pleasure and whoever is displeased, for him is the displeasure. So he must be cautious of the displeasure of Allah (The Blessed and the Most High). And he must realize that truly anxiety, extreme impatience, and displeasure will never benefit. And verily that which benefits him with Allah (The Blessed and The Most High) is believing in the qadar and patience upon the decree.

Translator's notes: Shaikh Fawzan said in his explanation of Al-Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyah that the levels of faith in the qadar (predestination) are four:

1st: Allah has knowledge of everything. He knows the actions of the slaves before they do them.
2nd: the writing of everything in Al-Lawh Al-Mahfouth
3rd: The complete will and ability of Allah upon every event and occurrence.
4th: Allah brings all the creation into existence. He is the creator and everything else is created.
