Points from the Benefits of the Hadeeth of Jibreel Class
Assalama 'alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatu. Alhamdulillaah, this weekend, as posted below, TROID, Masjid al-Furqaan held a class by brother Abu AbdiSalaam al-Juyaanee which focused on the Hadeeth of Jibreel, with the explanation of Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan. Alhamdulillaah, the class was very beneficial and I just wanted to share some points which I found of benefit inshaaAllaah:
- If you call to tawheed in a general sense, everyone, i.e. the Christians and the Jews, would agree with you but by doing so, you wouldn't make it clear or convince them because you are cheating them by not explaining what shirk is - the one who doesn't know the difference between good and evil is bound to fall into it.
- From the practice of the Sahabah (radhiAllaahu 'anhum) is that they would sit with Rasoolillaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and ask him for guidance and ask about their affairs of the deen and dunya; they tried to be with him all the time. This shows the value of the words of the Prophet, sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam and how important the narrations are, so much so that the salaf would travel long distances just for one narration, yet today we find we don't know the value of even one narration, even though they are very easily accessible. Thus we should strive to read ahadeeth and the Qur'aan everyday.
- When coming to a circle of knowledge, you should come looking presentable and clean as you are coming together fesibillaah. i.e. if you were to go to a meeting or a gathering such as a wedding you would dress nicely, thus you should do the same, dressing with dignity and cleanliness. Manners in such gatherings of knowledge are also very important, as some of the salaf would say, we learned manners before we learn knowledge.
- These five pillars of Islaam are the foundations of the religion. They are pillars such as the pillars that hold a building, but if one of them were missing, the structure should truly crumble. If you deny one of these pillars, it will destroy your Islaam and not bring any benefit to any of the other waajibaat or mustahab acts because the foundation is missing.
- The definition of Islaam is to submit oneself to Allaah 'AzzawaJal alone with tawheed and to be compliant in obeying Him and disassociating oneself from shirk and polythiests. This definition was used by Ibn Taymiyyah, who was quoted by Muhammad ibn AbdulWahhab and then Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan.
- Narrated by 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr: A Muslim is the one who the Muslims are safe from his tongue and his hands. [Bukhari/Muslim]
- The Kalimah has 2 pillars: 1. Nafi - negation - negate everything that is worshipped other than Allah (Laa illah) and 2. Ithbaat - affirmation - affirm that all worship is to Allaah alone (illAllaah)
- Incorrect meanings of the Kalimah include: nothing exists but Allaah or nothing is worshiped but Allaah, everything worshiped is Allaah <-- All incorrect translations...
- Must say it upon the tongue and believe it in the heart - must do BOTH, not just one or the other
- Must testify that Muhammad (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) is the prophet, by saying it upon the tongue, believe it and act by it by obeying what he has said - the deficiency lies in how much you disobey what he says
The audio can still be launched at http://www.wiziq.com/islam and listened to at anytime. If you haven't had the chance to do so this week, please do so inshaaAllaah!
